In late 2005, the Martinez family started on a venture to change the flavor of New Mexico. They brought true, authentic Mexican food to the heart of Albuquerque, NM's historic Nob Hill area. By introducing Albuquerqueans to Los Equipales Restaurant, the family focused on producing some of the most esteemed Mexican Sea Food flavors straight from the coast of Mexico cuisine, such as Huachinango al Mojo de Ajo, as well as central Mexican flavors such as Pollo en Mole, Carnitas de Puerco, Enchiladas Suizas, and many more mouth watering examples.

The flavor is kept fresh by changing the menu every three weeks to focus on specialty dishes from each state in Mexico. It keeps the local audience coming back to learn what they've been missing all these years. One taste of Mrs. Martinez's fresh and succulent, hand-made sauces, Chiles Rellenos, Frijoles de la Olla, or Poblano Rice and customers are hooked. They leave wanting more and wanting to know what taste bud treasures await them on their next visit.

Los Equipales Restaurant has also won over the local media. The Albuquerque Journal rated the restaurant Four Stars in a recent review, and the Weekly Alibi named them Top Mexican Restaurant in all of Albuquerque (October 2007).
